Week Six Project

In my opinion this is a pretty easy project.  We were given the scene with all the models and told to light and texture it.  This is just a quick render I did a few minutes into the project to show you what I have to work with.  It's good to relax and have some time for myself.  That being said I'm going to take advantage of this and work on my own project.. and that will be a surprise.  It's a big one I'll say that so it may take some time but I'll post it as soon as I'm done don't worry haha.

Ohh and heres somthing worth saying.  The director of education stopped by to see what I was working on out of the blue and I ended up getting to talk with him and have him show me all these great techniques and resources for an hour and a half!!  He has been working with the software since version one and is a genius in my opinion so I am very excited that I got that oppertunity!

Week Five Project

So for those of you who have not met my instructor (which I'm assuming is the majority) this is him.  His name is Kevin and we will be modeling a photorealistic model of his head this week.  Kinda weird if ya think about it.. staring at his head from all different angles the whole week getting the littlest of details.  It was pretty funny to see everyone studying his face today haha.  Wish me luck!
And for those into modeling we are doing a build-out model instead of box-modeling.

Week Two Critique

This was the second of three projects we have for hard surface modeling and it wasn't so much difficult as it was tedious.  I actually finished the project Friday night at around 1:00am because I wanted to give myself the weekend and it was well worth it.
Today in class or for that matter every Monday we critique everyones projects so not much goes on excpet for the instructor (Kevin) talking about things that could be better and such.

Rendering?

The left side is rendered the right side is the real time image in the viewport.
For those who do not know what a rendered image is.. When working in the software we are work in windows/veiwports that show a preview/rough image of the model.  The process in which the computer makes the calculations (light, fluids, or basic geometry) to compose the final image is called rendering.  An example of an un-rendered image is the pictures of the helicopter that I posted before.
The reason we can't just work with real time rendered images is because the calculations are so large that the computer has to do that it takes anywhere from a few seconds to over a hour to render one frame.  When viewing through the veiwport there is still rendering going on but such a small scale that it isn't refered to as rendering but a "real time image" instead.

Texture and Lights

Today we learned how to do basic texturing and lighting.  The homework: to texture and light the helicopter we previously made using the reference image and a 3-point light set up.  The image above is what I will be turning in tomorrow.
Along with the assignment I also made some other renders because to me one view is just boring.
